Last week I went to my first cooking class at De Gustibus cooking school. It was almost completely spur of the moment because the spring classes were coming to an end, but once I saw who the Chef was for Wednesday was, I plunked down my credit card lickety split.
De Gustibus is a recreational cooking school where they have culinary demonstrations (that you get to eat!) paired with delicious wines. In Manhattan the classes are held at the Macy’s in Herald Square. Classes are held in the spring and fall.
Last week was the last of the Star Billings series with Chef Daniel Humm, a 2005 Food & Wine Best New Chef winner and current Chef from Eleven Madison Park. I’ve been DYING to go to Eleven Madison Park for years, so I was very interested in going to this class. And, Chef Humm is a cutie.
You can cook for me anytime, baby.
He is also featured in the July 2009 Food & Wine issue, where you can find a few of the recipes he made for us in the demonstration.
I thought the class was fun and the food was fantastic. Chef Humm and his staff really did a fantastic job. I will definitely be going back for more classes in the fall, especially if I can get to meet cool celeb chefs or the chefs from 3 and 4 star restaurants.
